Negri Bergamo Laboratories

In Bergamo, the Institute is present with Negri Bergamo Laboratories (since 1984), accommodated in a XVIII century building called “Conventino”, restored and adapted in order to become a research center.

The Negri Bergamo Labs were created taking advantage from the collaboration consolidated in ‘70s between investigators of the Mario Negri Institute in Milano and clinicians of Ospedali Riuniti di Bergamo, under the guide of Giuseppe Remuzzi.

This location hosts the Departments of Molecular Medicine, of Bioengeneering and the Tumor Angiogenesis Unit of the Department of Oncology. The main research areas include experimental kidney diseases, transplant immunology, clinical pharmacology, molecular medicine, bioengineering and oncology.

A new location for the Negri Bergamo Laboratories
The Negri Bergamo will shortly move to the “Kilometro Rosso” Science and Technology Park in Stezzano, near Bergamo. The park was designed as a district devoted to knowledge, innovation and advanced technology and will group Bergamo’s most innovative companies, scientific institutions and research and development centres.

The Departments of Molecular Medicine and Biomedical Engineering (see pages 17-18) will be able to expand in the Kilometro Rosso Science and Technology Park. The new laboratories will have about  4400 sq.m and will be equipped with the latest equipment for cutting-edge technology that will have an infrastructure based on computer systems for data collection and analysis and combined data and image processing.
