Course Description

The Summer School New Horizon in Clinical Research in Surgery is A 3-day intensive residential course oorganised by the Mario Negri Institute in collaboration with CARES Network with the aim to:  

  1. promote and actively participate in the planning, execution, analysis, and publication of a clinical study in surgery, with particular focus on randomized and cohort studies
  1. understand the foundations and role of systematic reviews and guidelines in surgery  

The course will take place from September 16th to 18th in the Mario Negri Institute, Site of Milan, Via Mario Negri 2 – 20156 Milano.

Who can apply

The Summer School is open to both Italian and international candidates (for a maximum number of 20 attendees) who meet one of the following criteria:

  • Student attending the last two years of medical school  
  • Resident physicians
  • Attending physicians

To fully benefit from the course, participants are expected to have:

  • Working knowledge of English, to ensure proper understanding during lectures, group activities
  • Basic knowledge of epidemiology and scientific publications

How to enroll

  • An updated Curriculum Vitae (dated and signed, English)
  • A motivational letter (English)

Once you receive confirmation that your application has been received, along with enrollment instructions, you may proceed with payment of the registration fee.

To finalize your enrollment, please send proof of payment to the same email address.

Please note that only the first 20 candidates who complete the entire application and payment procedure will be officially accepted and enrolled.

Registration fee: € 1,000.00

Final Exam

Successful completion of the final learning assessment, together with meeting the minimum attendance requirement (80%) and completing the course quality evaluation questionnaire, will entitle participants to receive the certificate of attendance.  

In addition, the Institute, as a Provider accredited by the Regione Lombardia, awards ECM (Continuing Medical Education) credits to all Healthcare Professionals registered in the Italian Medical Council (Ordine dei Medici) who participate in its training activities. An accreditation application will be submitted to the Regione Lombardia for this course, and eligible participants will receive the corresponding ECM credits upon the completion of the aforementioned conditions.
