The Clinical Centre is equipped with dedicated facilities that enable direct follow-up for patients within a diagnostic definition pathway and clinical trials. This work is carried out in three Departments dedicated to renal diseases, rare diseases, and regulatory, ethical, and legal aspects, respectively, and through active collaboration with the Centre for Human Genetics, the Department of Molecular Medicine, and the Department of Bioengineering.
The centre carries out clinical trials to test the efficacy of new therapeutic approaches, either directly – involving patients who are seen on site – or by playing a coordinating role for multicentre national and international studies.
In its current configuration it includes an Outpatient Clinic, a Day Hospital section with 10 beds, and a General Basic Laboratory Medicine (SMeL) Service. Some of this work benefits from the centre’s close collaboration with the Azienda Socio-Sanitaria Territoriale (ASST - hospital) Papa Giovanni XXIII and the Bergamo Est ASST.
