Laureato in Medicina e Chirurgia nel 1978 presso l’Università di Milano, si è poi specializzato in Ricerca Farmacologica presso l'Istituto Mario Negri di Milano.
Dal 1973 al 1990 Ricercatore presso il Laboratorio di Farmacologia Clinica dell'Istituto Mario Negri.
Dal 1981 al 1983 Cardiology Fellow (Robert E. Kates Laboratory) presso la Stanford University Medical Center, CA, USA. Merck Sharp & Dohme International Fellow in Clinical Pharmacology.
Dal 1999 al 2009 Visiting Professor, Department of Medicine, New York Medical College, Valhalla, NY, USA.
È membro dal 1991 degli Steering Committee degli studi clinici multicentrici in ambito cardiovascolare: ALOFT, ValHeFT, GISSI-HF, GISSI-AF, CandHeart, CYCLE, ICOS-ONE.
Dal 1990 è Capo del Laboratorio di Farmacologica Clinica Cardiovascolare dell'Istituto Mario Negri, dove dal Marzo 2013 è Direttore del Dipartimento di Ricerca Cardiovascolare.

Roberto Latini received his Medical Doctor degree in 1978 at the University of Milano and Postdoctoral degree in Pharmacological Research from the "Mario Negri" Institute.
From 1973 to 1990 Fellow at the Laboratory of Clinical Pharmacology of "Mario Negri" Institute.
From 1981 to 1983 Cardiology Fellow (Robert E. Kates Laboratory), Stanford University Medical Center, CA, USA. Merck Sharp & Dohme International Fellow in Clinical Pharmacology.
From 1999 to 2009 Visiting Professor, Department of Medicine, New York Medical College, Valhalla, NY, USA.
From 1991 member of the Steering Committees of the randomized clinical trial: ALOFT, ValHeFT, GISSI-HF, GISSI-AF, CandHeart, CYCLE, ICOS-ONE.
From 1990 Head of the Laboratory of Cardiovascular Clinical Pharmacology at "Mario Negri" Institute.

Dr Latini’s research interests cover:
• Mechanisms of cardiac damage following ischemia, with focus on neurohumoral activation.
• Use of stem cells for cardiac repair after acute myocardial infarction in experimental animals.
• Biohumoral investigations within large scale clinical trials in heart failure and atrial fibrillation aimed at discovering and validating new biomarkers.
